In the field of bioinformatics, IBIZ performs implementation, validation and application of software for the analysis of data from NRL activities and science. The focus is the analysis of bacterial whole genome sequencing data and aims at high-resolution genotyping, detection of clusters of genomically similar isolates and outbreak analyses. The detection of genetic markers for virulence, resistance to antimicrobials and mobile genetic elements (e.g. plasmids) are further important fields of activity. The project supports the NRLs in routine diagnostics.
