What is the role of the FLI in Zika virus research?
Zika virus is not in the focus of research at the FLI, as it is the causative agent of human disease.
The FLI conducts research on the role of mosquitoes in the transmission of viruses, which are primarily relevant in veterinary medicine, and investigates which mosquito species occur where in Germany, which non-endemic species are able to establish stable populations, and how high their competence is in the transmission of different pathogens.
