The InnoDia project is part of the development of a One Health Surveillance Platform (OHS). This is anchored at the HIOH and will enable the long-term collection of data on the health of humans, animals and ecosystems in defined indicator regions (Taï National Park, Côte d'Ivoire, Dzanga - Sangha Protected Areas, Central African Republic and Western Pomerania). The OHS will implement comprehensive sampling designs at the interfaces between humans, domestic animals, wildlife and the environment that will allow researchers to decipher the temporal dynamics of pathogen transmission within and between host species and to identify drivers of outbreaks, spillover effects and the changing distribution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in complex landscapes.
The InnoDia project comprises 4 work packages, whereby work package 3 (WP 3) is mainly located at the INNT (in collaboration with the IFI). In WP 3, a multiplex assay (Luminex) is to be established that can simultaneously detect specific antibodies against important pathogens in order to set up a comprehensive serological surveillance system in Germany and the African partner countries. To this end, the Luminex system will be used to establish a serological surveillance application that enables the accurate detection and quantification of specific antibodies in humans and animals. The test is robust and enables the simultaneous detection of antibodies against multiple antigens with a small sample volume in a high-throughput format.
