Young Academics

Internships and Theses

The FLI supports the education and professional training of young academics. Bachelor, master, diploma and doctoral thesis works are supported by and carried out at the FLI. Furthermore, the institute offers laboratory internships for advanced students within the limits prescribed in the respective study or examination regulations.

It is recommended that interested students absolve an internship in the respective institute prior to starting their thesis work. The internships are advanced laboratory internships, i.e. the students are involved in current research projects and should already have laboratory experience. The minimum duration of an internship is 4 weeks, we recommend however a duration of 6 to 8 weeks.

Please use the respective application form to contact us. Information on the various institutes and work groups is provided on our website under Institutes. Free PhD positions can be found on our website under Vacancies.

Unsolicited Applications

For graduates with own research ideas, we offer the possibility to submit a speculative application for a PhD position. In this case, you should first develop a clear idea about your topic of interest and decide which department of FLI you would consider. We strongly recommend that you inform yourself on our websites.
