Working group Ruminant nutrition

The research activity of the working group Cattle Nutrition covers mainly the areas of dairy cows and growing cattle. This includes also experiments with fattening bulls calves and heifers.  

Some examples of current research topics in the field of cattle nutrition carried out at the Institute of Animal Nutrition are listed below:  

  • Effects of long-term supplementation of diets with conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) on physiological and pathophysiological processes in dairy cows  
  • Investigations on different trace elements in dairy cow nutrition  
  • Effects of different feedstuffs (e.g. by-products of biofuel production) as well as feed additives und undesired substances on performance and health of dairy cows and fattening bulls  
  • Investigations on the water intake of cattle
