Institute of Diagnostic Virology (IVD)

Laboratory for NGS-based pathogen characterization and animal disease diagnostics

The Laboratory for NGS-Based Pathogen Characterization and Animal Disease Diagnostics specializes in the analysis of genetic material from samples of diverse origin to identify and characterize viral pathogens. All routine methods applied in the laboratory are accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, ensuring high quality standards and reliable results.

Our analyses are typically conducted in close collaboration with scientific and diagnostic colleagues, allowing us to address specific research and diagnostic questions in a targeted and efficient manner.

In addition to routine sample processing, a key focus of our work is the continuous development and optimization of methods for sample preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS). This includes the refinement of existing workflows as well as the development and implementation of new methodologies. Our aim is to achieve highly sensitive and robust processing, enabling the generation of meaningful results even from samples with limited quantity or challenging quality.

Furthermore, we provide expert advice on all aspects of NGS and work closely with our partners to design and plan tailored sequencing analyses.
