The emergency ordinance of the BMEL for small-scale poultry holdings went into force on 21 November. Small-scale holdings now are also legally obliged to take biosafety measures for protection against fowl plague.
Also in small-scale holdings protective measures against avian influenza („bird flu“) are indispensable to prevent a further spread of this highly contagious disease. All poultry farmers are legally obliged to observe basic biosafety rules.
The FLI has summarized practical recommendations for implementation of protective measures.
