The current map of avian influenza illustrates the dynamic development of the disease

The map of HPAI infections in Germany, updated weekly by the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), shows a significant increase in cases compared to 23 October. There were 20 new outbreaks in poultry flocks, doubling the previous week's figure, and 184 positive findings in wild birds. However, each report may represent a significantly higher number of dead animals. Due to the dynamic nature of the situation, these figures only provide a snapshot of the current situation. “We continue to see steadily rising numbers, with no sign of the situation calming down. The cases in wild birds on the map of Europe clearly show autumn bird migration towards the south-west,' said FLI President Prof. Dr Christa Kühn. Attention must not waver in terms of either biosecurity measures for poultry or reporting of dead wild birds. Even though local veterinary authorities are already working at full capacity, it is important to continue to recover dead wild birds.
