The “One Health for Cambodia” (OH4CAM) project aims to establish a comprehensive and sustainable One Health framework in Cambodia to detect and combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR), zoonotic diseases and emerging infectious diseases at an early stage. The project will focus on AMR activities as a use case to support the creation of a comprehensive and integrated One Health framework in Cambodia. The overall project, which is funded by German Financial Cooperation via KfW with a grant of EUR 34 million, is scheduled to run for five years. A feasibility study, carried out with FLI’s participation in 2023–2024, identified the necessary measures and resource allocations to achieve the project’s four main strategic objectives
- Establishing and strengthening a legal framework and inter-ministerial structures for the implementation of One Health
- Empowering and networking authorities at national and sub-national levels with robust data systems
- Implementation of integrated surveillance programmes with appropriate laboratory equipment
- Introduction of programmes for information flows and communication plans
During the implementation phase, the FLI is now acting as a technical advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture in Cambodia, with a particular focus on strengthening the veterinary sector and integrating it into the One Health structures.
