Greifswald - Insel Riems, 12 June 2017. At the end of June, the Czech Republic reported the first cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars in the east of the country. As a result, the risk assessment of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) for the introduction of ASF by direct contact between wild boars changes from low to moderate. In addition, the outbreaks in domestic pigs in Poland have increased in recent weeks. Therefore, the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) assesses the risk of introduction of African swine fever into Germany as high and calls for increased vigilance.
