Pulawy/Greifswald - Riems Island, 26. March 2024: The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) and the National Veterinary Research Institute (PIWet) in Pulawy, Poland, today signed a groundbreaking agreement to intensify their cooperation. The focus will be on the diagnosis of animal diseases. PiWet is particularly interested in collaborating in the areas of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, African Swine Wever and Bovine Viral Diarrhoea. Scientific discussions followed the signing of the agreement.
By sharing expertise and resources, FLI and PIWet aim to improve diagnostic capabilities and find faster solutions to current and future animal health challenges. Through their formal agreement, the two renowned research institutions will strengthen the exchange of experience and information flow in order to make the best use of their available resources. FLI President Prof Dr Christa Kühn said at the signing: "This groundbreaking partnership between FLI and PIWet is a significant step towards strengthening cooperation in the field of animal health and animal disease research between Germany and Poland".
